Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, also known as Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed by the label's debut female singer on Dreamville Records by J. Cole. On October 21, 2016 she debuted Pho, her debut EP under the Dreamville Records label. That was the day she began to gain notoriety. Shea Butter Baby released her first studio album 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading music to the Internet in 2012 when she launched her first mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. The year 2014 saw her continue to upload her music via the internet including her independently released single Bound. She appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes, on Sweat It Out on the 21st of July in 2015. J. Cole had her submit her tracks to the Dreamville Team later that year because he was hoping for Rihanna to work with her on some references. Her announcement to sign with Dreamville Records was made on the 8th day of December. In the album Revenge of the Dreamers II She was on the song Backseat along with Cozz. On October 21, 2016 her Pho EP was released. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as being an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017, in which she joined by EarthGang. The singer also performed on the songs Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus together with Bas and her labelmates. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018, which was released on July 16th, 2018. The music video later released in September. On the 9th November the singer released two more singles, titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). The 13th of November, she dropped two singles titled No One or Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, February 26, 2019, to accompany the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared along with Cole as part of the Creed II sound track on November 16. The music video premiered on February 20, 2019 to go along with the track. Within a week, it had over 3 million views. In December 2018, she performed as an opening act for The From East Atlanta With Love Tour with 6LACK.
